Sonic Adventure: A-Button Challenge - Amy's Final Egg (0)
If ya get sick of the "WAH!" sound... tough.
So in my LB of SA1 about two and a half years ago, I advertised a series I was gonna do where I'd complete levels in Sonic Adventure while jumping as few times as possible. Well, I never did that, favouring such oddities as Let's Plays and Sonic-only runs of Heroes stages. So I've decided that now, of all times, I should remedy this. Welcome, one and all, to Let's Break Sonic Adventure In A Different Way: A-Button Challenges!... or the SA1 No-Jump Run for short.
So now begins the Amy runs! She's awesome... to me, anyway. Second to Sonic in my preferred playable characters, if only because she's the helpless damsel in distress... WITH A GIANT FRIGGIN HAMMER! That's badass, and her level design is some of the most competent in the early 3D games.... again, imo.
Final Egg is probably Amy's easiest stage... which is weird. But it's the first one we're tackling because it's also the easiest to no-jump run.
The Hammer Jump:
Amy moves faster in the air. That's a given. What's not typically given is that we can't jump. So the biggest factor in getting high speeds with our adorable pink stalker is completely gone from our arsenal. That said, there are plenty of straightaways in Final Egg with which to build up that speed. Why do we need speed, you ask?
...Dude, seriously? Do you even Sonic?
When Amy reaches near her top-speed, she takes out her hammer and runs with it alongside her. From here, pressing the Action Button will make her do a fancy pole-vault thing. Very cool to watch. It's also gonna be our main method of gaining vertical distance throughout her story. So yeah... hammer jump replaces regular jump. Cn u dig it?
