Sonic Adventure: A-Button Challenge - Gamma's Emerald Coast (0)
"Frog Capture." Huh. Good thing robots can't feel embarrassed.
So in my LB of SA1 about two and a half years ago, I advertised a series I was gonna do where I'd complete levels in Sonic Adventure while jumping as few times as possible. Well, I never did that, favouring such oddities as Let's Plays and Sonic-only runs of Heroes stages. So I've decided that now, of all times, I should remedy this. Welcome, one and all, to Let's Break Sonic Adventure In A Different Way: A-Button Challenges!... or the SA1 No-Jump Run for short.
Emerald Coast again. Just as serene as when we last left it- OH MY GOD GIANT ROBOT TERRORIZING BEACHGOERS! RUN! FREAKING RUN!
Still nothing particularly impressive at work here (honestly, nothing too impressive until I stop getting a Jump Count of 0) but here's another general trick:
Benefits of the MODE CHANGE:
Gamma's hampered on speed for the most part, though even when walking he can move at a decent clip. However, he doesn't get any of the Sonic-borne benefits of speed until he enters his MODE CHANGE position. Rockin' wheels certainly has its benefits, I'll say. Not only do you make better time, but you can roll up and across much steeper surfaces now (as visible at 0:43), which of course has its break-worthy advantages. Getting the MODE CHANGE to activate is as straightforward as getting your base speed up (think Amy's Hammer Jump) or hoppin' in the ocean for a dip.
