Sonic CD Speedrun - 14'20"02 (Old)
Almost a minute and a half of improvements. Let's break it down.
Palmtree Panic 1: Better route through the level saves two seconds. Kinda difficult to get all the time, but it's at the start of the run, so who cares?
Palmtree Panic 2: Got stuck behind the stupid rock at the end. Should have been about a second better.
Palmtree Panic 3: Missed the jump to the spring, jumped stupidly trying to hit the next spring. Lost a second or two.
Collision Chaos 1: DIED. Lost about 5 seconds. Lost another two by various bits in the level - still worked out okay, though!
Collision Chaos 2: Missed the jump over the springs at the start, fell down once when jumping over the top, and missed the fall into the spring to get back up. The jump at the start is hard, so I'd say about 3 or 4 seconds could be consistently saved.
Collision Chaos 3: Can't really ask for much better than that.
Tidal Tempest 1: Missed the shortcut for the first time in a while and had to go the longer route. 10 seconds of relatively easy improvements could be made here.
Tidal Tempest 2: I got hit by both stupid flies. Which, of course, never usually happens. 4 or 5 seconds better would be easy.
Tidal Tempest 3: Had a decent opening, and nailed the quick kill. Very happy.
Quartz Quadrant 1: Argh, Missed the jump over the sucky suck thing, and then got timewarped. This could easily be about 9-10 seconds faster.
Quartz Quadrant 2: Not too bad - missed sub-30 by an inch.
Quartz Quadrant 3: This level is boring, but it went well.
Wacky Workbench 1: Time travel sucks in this level, but I got it in a decent place. Time could be saved, but this level is suck.
Wacky Workbench 2: Really good, not much room for improvement on this route.
Wacky Workbench 3: Eh, could be better, but I do a lot worse usually, so I can't complain.
Stardust Speedway 1: Didn't jump off the ledge after getting the 1-up. 2 seconds of improvement is easy.
Stardust Speedway 2: Missed the jump over the cannon thingy. Could save about 4 or 5 seconds from that.
Stardust Speedway 3: You know, I don't really practice this level. I just wing it every time. There's only so well you can do in this level, though. Got the Sonic-Likes-Jumping shenanigans at the end, though.
Metallic Madness 1: Went very well. Very very well.
Metallic Madness 2: Also went very well. Missed the jump from the spring, though, but I can deal with that.
Metallic Madness 3: Missed the double hit, which saves 10 seconds at least. Gonna practice that some more before I do another run.
Of course, there are still some better routes for levels which I haven't practiced yet. So there's that.
