Sonic Colors (60 FPS) - Dolphin Emulator - Full Playthrough (All S Ranks)
1,234Now, what are my thoughts for the game as a whole? Despite some blocky level design and overabundance of 2D sections, as well as being a slower game than Unleashed by quite a decent amount... I still liked it :). I mean, I bothered to S rank all of the game so that's pretty obvious. :))
How does it stack up against Unleashed? Well, it's kind of hard to say, since Colors goes for a more methodical, wholesome platforming experience as opposed to the in-your-face adrenaline rush that is Unleashed.
What Colors trades for in speed gains in level design density and replayability. While the level design itself can get too blocky at times, how Sonic controls in Colors more than makes up for it. Also, the wisps, while being gimmicks than straight up power-ups, are the kind of gimmicks that complement the platforming present in Colors and not hinder it.
Basically, Unleashed and Colors are 2 sides of the same coin. Some may like the former more, some may like the latter more, some may like both (like yours truly :D)... but both games don't reach that perfect balance between speed, platforming and exploration quite yet.
All footage was recorded using Nvidia Shadowplay at 1080p 60 FPS. Please excuse the little stutters the game suffers at certain parts. It only happens when recording since it puts a serious load on the HDD.
