When SEGA announced Sonic Unleashed, most people couldn't get over the whole werehog thing. The game looked incredibly amazing, but because there was a foreign element of the game that looked to be the complete and total opposite of what fans seemed to want, they all just wrote it off as a joke and decided that this game was going to just be like everything else from the recent past.

And they were all wrong.

Sonic Unleashed is the game where Sonic not only finally landed back on his feet, but he took off with more momentum than ever before. SEGA finally figured out a good way to utilize a fast "speed" element in a game while retaining platforming elements to it as well. The blend of platforming and speed may not have been perfectly balanced, but it was finally looking like the series had a formula that they could work with. Boosting, an element recently added in the Sonic Rush series of games, is a staple that has appeared in almost every game since and learning how to keep this bar full while burning through it constantly can be the difference between minutes and seconds of stage-length.

Spagonia, Rooftop Run, Orange Roofs.... whatever you call it, is a very interesting environment in the middle of a celebration of some sort (what exactly they were celebrating is beyond me). Classic Sonic takes most of his elements from the werehog version of the level, including running through the wine cellar and slowly platforming his way up the clocktower (only Classic Sonic does so from the outside instead). It's a pretty enjoyable level, but it's not one of my favourites...
