Sonic Heroes: Team Dark Part 1: Seaside Hill
I publish this on December 30th, 2022, the 19th Anniversary of this game!
There is more than one story since there are four teams. So here's how this team starts.
----------
Rouge the Bat, and expert spy and treasure hunter, donned a new outfit and infiltrated one of Dr. Eggman's secret bases, looking for some kind of rare treasure that he held.
While she was uncovering this treasure, a nasty robot came to life and almost gunned her down. Meanwhile, Rouge's latest treasure turned out to be none other than Shadow the Hedgehog, who thought to have died after sacrificing his Super Shadow powers to save the world.
Shadow saved Rouge from the robots attack and attempted to fight the robot, himself. This robot is the last of Eggman's E-100 Series: E-123 Omega. Surprisingly, Omega was furious with Eggman and wanted to eliminate him.
When Rouge stopped Shadow and Omega from killing each other, she got clear facts out of them. Omega was sealed away by Eggman and now he wants revenge, and Shadow, although he didn't die, he still ended up losing all of his memories.
So Rouge decided that the three of them should all team up and track down Eggman for their own purposes, and likely Rouge herself will find Eggman's REAL secret treasure out of all of this, too.
And thus, Team Dark was born.
----------
Team Dark's campaign is a harder version of Team Sonic's. There will be more enemies to fight on average, more obstacles to overcome, and altered layouts to make using this team a more challenging-yet-rewarding experience.
But Team Dark's characters mostly play the same as Team Sonic's does. The only significant difference is Omega's size compared to Knuckles', and how he has different Level Up finishers for his Fire Combination combos.
Another significant difference is Team Dark's Team Blast: Chaos Overdrive. Rouge holds Omega up to annihilate all nearby robots, while Shadow takes out the Green Chaos Emerald to use Chaos Control to freeze the stage. This state lasts until the gauge empties. Even then, I don't use this quite yet.
Different teams may or may not start and end at different points of each stage. It really varies, but Team Dark's courses tend to be the longest, allowing them into most sections of a stage that Team Sonic will never see.
