Sonic Jukebox amongst other things is a very clean sounding Sonic compilation album of many 16-bit music tracks taken from various Sonic hacks through out the modding community.

As always each of my albums sets an audio standard in either Sonic 1 & 2's sound or Sonic 3 & Knuckles sound never mixing or mismatching with each other in order to stay true to the original Sonic games and today we're listening to a compilation of music done in the Sonic 3 & Knuckles sound format.

There are lots of interesting tracks on here taken from many different Sonic games as well as some new ones and other Mega Drive games. Sonic 2 Recreation, The S Factor, Sonic Megamix 4.0 and Sonic Zeta Overdrive are just some of the hacks where the music is taken from. This CD was made way back in January 2014 so it pre-dates my Everdrive and being able to record from real hardware so it is using emulation to record the music.

NOTES:

1. At the end of track 22 a little bit of static is heard, track 23 onwards originally sounded worse and worse in quality as the CD kept going towards the end, it must have been a bad rip that I wasn't aware of, so after track 22 I swapped the disc with a duplicate disc that I had which sounded clean to finish off the album. So you may notice a slight visual pause or judder after track 22 into track 23.

2. Mystic Mine had some sort of FM music corruption in it that kept muting the instruments as the track went on, that's why I cut it short just after 2 minutes. This is not the disc or emulator to blame, the fault lies with the crappy hack from where I got it from.

3. Track 23 is the only one recorded from real hardware (well obviously) and even I don't know what the hell it really is? It sounds like some dumb arse who doesn't know how to play drums. I was in the sound test of Sonic 3 & Knuckles one day and all of a sudden the drum samples went crazy! I liked it and hit the record button and what you hear is an automatically made drum solo. I can only guess that maybe there was a loose contact somewhere.
