Sonic Memoir - Choir of One
1Sonic Memoir is an album of songs that I made while thinking about different times in my life, trying to capture some of the sounds and feelings, filtered through both the haze of memory and the limits of my own skills.
Several times in my life, I've been overwhelmed by the power of songs that were sung in a language I don't speak. This song is kind of a tribute to all of them, especially the Zimbabwean songs I mentioned in Wordles Prayer, but also a passover seder that my sister-in-law put on.
The percussion itself is the kind of leg slapping and cheek slapping that I learned as a child and never quite let go of.
