1) Mistiming a jump, and falling into a bottomless pit.
Boss fight: Mephilles - Phase 1 (Shadow) (Omega)
Events: Shadow uses his Chaos powers to overcome Mephilles' grip, only to be thrown aside like a ragdoll. At the very last moment, the Omega that had been in standby mode appeared, engaging Mephilles in combat.
After being defeated by Omega, Mephilles' escapes through another portal, with Shadow and Omega in pursuit.
Back in the present, the two meet up with Rouge at the Warehouse District in Soleanna town and plot their next action...
