Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) - Unused Dusty Desert Section C Layout
Within the stage files for Sonic's Dusty Desert exists an unused set file for an area C. Like Crisis City D, Dusty Desert C seems to be missing whatever original terrain, collision, and paths, though the rings DO have path spline parameters set. Shadow also has files referring to dtdC, specifically the scene and stage lighting lua. That lighting calls for the EnvMap for dtdA, as opposed to the one for dtdB, which may hint to it being an outdoor area as well.
Judging by the long stretches on ring trails, it might've been an unused mach speed section, though mach speed Sonic is unaffected by dash panels and there's several paths Sonic could take, again, something that mach speed Sonic would be unable to easily do.
Here I've placed the file for dtdC on top of Sonic's Hard dtdA. (The Player spawn is not normally there, I had to manually add one in [The Amy I'm using is just for debugging and has 999 double jumps because the game refused to load a character in dtdC with debugging set to true]. I've ALSO made the draw distance on all the objects really high, or else the actual stage would be hard to see).
Without any editing, most of the objects for the stage spawn below or out of bounds. In the section part, I used what appeared to be wall dash panels similar to what's in dtdA as a guide, lining it up with it. Interestingly, it also seems to almost line up with the tower as well. Here, most of the objects are now in bounds, though it seems what is the end of the stage is still out of bounds. Either way, the actual terrain is unknown, though I think outside with a wall running section and a tower near the end of the stage.
00:00 dtdC, original set file with no modifications made
05:28 the same set file, but with the wall dash pads aligned to the wall
