Here's a fun one: Sonic the Hedgehog Frenzy is a hack by Yoshister which includes new levels based on the Zones from other classic Sonic games. The levels are full of alternate pathways and secrets, so I played this hack many times to get all the monitors and rings I could. I just can't help but crave those extra lives... truly one of my favorite Sonic hacks.
