Hopefully, this upload will look better than the last one.
This is the penultimate stage in Sonic Unleashed. I was pretty surprised I was able to make it through here without dying, though as you can see, the run through this stage absolutely pales in comparison to my high score. I don't even know how I got a score like that.
Adabat is based on Southeast Asia. It's a mixture of the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia. I don't know where people are getting the idea that it's based on South America other than the assumption there would be a stage representing each continent. You can see it in the fact that Adabat is a coastal region, the houses out in the ocean characteristic of Southeast Asia, the architectural style of the ruins (particularly Angkor Wat), the flag as a combination of those of Thailand and the Philippines, and the use of gamelan instruments in the music. (The Adabat hub's music is authentic gamelan music, by the way. Look it up on Wikipedia if you're not familiar with gamelans.)
As for the stage itself, one word describes this: HARD. Not as brutal as Eggmanland, but as this is the stage that comes right before Eggmanland, it's not going to go easy on you. A difficulty spike occurs here. Compare it to Skyscraper Scamper, which I also already uploaded, and you'll see the difference in difficulty. You begin with the most rapid Quick Step sequence in the game, then a maze of docks through the boathouse village. The next segment of the game is set in an archipelago where Sonic must remain at full speed--and almost always boosted, no less--while stuff is falling all around him and water spurts up all around him determined to knock him down. The final third of the stage is set in the ruins, where Sonic must get past falling ceilings, rising floors, and some pretty precarious platforming. It's so difficult, the game pretty much just gives you the S-rank for making it all the way without dying.
