Sonic Forces will launch in less than a month. Since the game will go back to the boost formula used in Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, I think now is the perfect time to replay those games and reflect on how each game approached this gameplay style.

So, that's why I made this video. And I went with the game that started it all first. I don't have a copy of Sonic Unleashed for my PS3... and even if I did, I wouldn't be able to record it. So the Unleashed Project mod for Sonic Generations made by Darioff was the next best thing.

I even went the extra mile to make it as close to the original game as possible, added Unleashed lighting, shaders, corrected S rank requirements, blue trails... and most importantly Unleashed's physics. Yes, there is a mod for that and it comes with all of its flaws (having the homing attack and air boost mapped to the same button for example. I will say, jumping at top speed caries you farther than in Sonic Generations, at least at default speed.

For what it's worth, I find this mod (and of course Unleashed) incredibly fun. And while linear in design, Unleashed stages really demand quick reflexes and high execution if you want S ranks... problem being for those who want a more moderate paced experience... well... it doesn't quite offer in that regard. You either go fast or barely go at all, with not so much inbetween.

I'm not using this a con against the game, but just as a reminder for the future videos when comparing the other boost Sonic games, since I want to highlight what makes each game click. I also encourage anyone watching the video to share their thoughts about the boost Sonic games.
