Sony fdrx3000 disassembled BOSS at work
20So I finally disassembled the BOSS and here it is working. The front lens is just a glass lens for the 170 FOV and it does do a little focusing because of the wide FOV, but the main focusing lens is in the BOSS and it is hard to refocus atleast for me because I dont want to break it. The front glass lens is easily removed by carefully prying the black cover off the metal, the glue will break off.
I wanted to refocus the lens to infinite because my focus seems to be way off compared to another FDRx3000 that I was using. It was too soft so I tried to refocus the lens.
You can see how the BOSS system works here with the electromagnets working by reorienting the lens from me lightly tapping the camera to cause a shake. It only works for oscillation in a certain hz range, I dont know what the range is but it should be about the same as a DSLR mirrorless system with sensor stabilization.
