Sony Google TV: How to Connect and Use USB Drive! [With or Without Remote]
If you want to connect and use a USB drive with your Sony Google TV, whether you have the remote or not, this video shows you exactly how to do it. It covers how to access and play media from a USB storage device, including photos, videos, and music, directly on your TV.
To get started, plug your USB drive into one of the available USB ports on your Sony Google TV. Once connected, grab your remote and press the Home button. From the home menu, navigate to the Apps section and look for the Media Player app—or something similarly named, depending on your TV model. Once inside, choose the type of content you'd like to access: Photos, Music, or Videos.
Next, select your USB drive from the list of available sources. If the USB drive doesn’t appear automatically, you can also go to the Input section of the TV and manually select the USB device. From there, browse the folders and choose the file you want to open or play.
If you don't have the remote, the process is slightly different but still manageable. After plugging in the USB drive, press the Power button on your TV to wake it. Press it again to access the input options. You can then long-press to highlight and select the USB drive.
Alternatively, you can use Sony’s TV SideView app on your smartphone, which acts as a remote control. This app allows you to navigate menus, control playback, and select files from the media player without needing the physical remote.
This process allows you to enjoy media stored on a USB drive directly through your Sony Google TV, whether you're using a remote or your phone.
