Space telescope detects rare 'Einstein ring' around galaxy NGC 6505
NGC 6505 is an elliptical galaxy located about 608 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Draco. It has recently gained attention because the Euclid Space Telescope captured an Einstein ring around it. This phenomenon occurs when the gravity of a foreground galaxy bends the light from a more distant galaxy behind it, forming a ring-shaped structure.
This discovery is significant because it confirms the predictions made by Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity and provides valuable information about the distribution of dark matter and the expansion of the universe.
