Spec Ops: The Line Demo
I'm somewhat intrigued by Yager Development's upcoming third-person shooter Spec Ops: The Line, which seems to break away at least a little bit from the narrow narrative confines of military-themed action games and introduce some edgy Heart of Darkness-inspired ambiguity in its portrayal of the American Übermensch which populate most entries in the genre. Also, I like the unusual setting (Dhubai turned into a ghost town by being deserted in more ways than one) and the inclusion of some admittedly minor tactical squad-based elements. The actual shooting is pretty standard and there's nothing special about the clearly console-oriented implementation of UE3, but at least all those dunes and skyscrapers look better on PC than in the 360 demo I played a few weeks ago.
