Speedrun notes in the conventional sense are not useful to most people that would want to use them.

Why Speedrun Notes Are Useless

Reason 1: They are typically personal notes

Reason 2: Personal notes are catered to individual runner including their perceptions about what they need to be reminded of, not of what a new runner of a game may not be privy to.

Reason 3: Personal notes from people typically expect a certain degree of speedrun competency.

Reason 4: Strategies/Routes can be all over the place in terms of complexity or level of difficulty. It's not that they should necessarily be easy or hard strategies, but should be indicated somewhere within.

Reason 5: Notes typically only explain "what" to do, not as much the "how" or "why" behind doing something. The "why" is not necessarily important. Only to the extent that critical mistakes are made does why doing something in a certain way matter. The "how" is pretty critical in that it leads to the finer details of a speedrun that are otherwise glossed over in most speedrun notes that just explain "what" to do.

Reason 6: There is incomplete knowledge in some way: similar to expecting certain prior competency, some things are flat out just not mentioned or more briefly summarized. An example of this would be some of the following:
-e.g. for Final Fantasy VII: Talk to Tifa vs. Walk W two screens, then SW to bar stairs and talk to Barret. Then enter and talk to Tifa.
-e.g. for Final Fantasy VIII: Do Rinoa Skip vs. Here are the steps to do Rinoa skip
-e.g. Fight intricacies and back-ups not fully explained
-e.g. Safety save spots neglected to be mentioned
-e.g. Breaks and break times (first saw this in EvilAsh25's Chrono Cross notes, very useful addition for long RPG speedrun guides)

Reason 7: Notes i.e. personal notes are written in a way as to be understandable to the individual runner making the notes, not the public at large. They deal greatly in uncertainties and skip over critical information whereas a guide, like a recipe for a baked good, goes into exact specifics and detail assuming no prior knowledge.

Overall: The real difference between notes and guides is that notes assume some prior knowledge beyond the scope of a casual playthrough whereas true guides are focused on taking someone from zero (or next to zero) to being able to speedrun the game competently.
