Spelunky - Low% in 3:14.119! (Starting items Only)
561Previous WR was 3:15.561 by Latedog. This is definitely an improvable time, but for now it's the World record. Sub-3:00 is the current aim for low%, and it's very much a realistic possibility. One of these days!

Low% is a speed running category which, broadly, means "Beat the game as quickly as possible while collecting the least amount of items possible."
The rules for what is and isn't considered okay to collect vary from game to game, depending on the general opinion of the community. In Spelunky, it is generally agreed upon that all environmental objects like rocks, arrows, etc. are permitted, as they are not exactly items. Furthermore, forbidding these objects makes the runs vastly less probable/interesting to do, since you usually have to waste some or all of your 4 ropes to activate arrow traps—and you NEED one rope, minimum, for Olmec. So basically you have to beat Olmec using only your starting four bombs, ropes, and health. No obtaining items via crates, shops, or otherwise, and no damsels.
