Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Based on the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales, it was inspired by both the character's decades-long comic book mythology and the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) that helped popularize him. The game is a sequel and successor to Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) and the second installment in Insomniac's Spider-Man series. The story focuses on the struggle of Miles to balance his civil obligations with his role as another Spider-Man because his new home of Harlem is threatened by a war between the Roxxon Energy Corporation and an army of high-tech criminals. The core gameplay of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the same as its predecessor. It has the same open world, a fictionalized version of modern-day Manhattan covered in snow because the game takes place during the holidays. Miles controls in the same way as Peter Parker, but with new animations and abilities that unlock as the story progresses. New powers include the Venom Blast, which allows the player to incapacitate enemies with bioelectricity and charge or discharge electronics; A disguise that gives Miles temporary invisibility; and Mega Venom Blast, which consists of a massive bioelectric blast that damages all nearby enemies. The game introduces new devices such as Remote Mines, which can be attached to enemies or electrical panels; a device that summons holographic fighters into battle; and Gravity Wells, which trap multiple enemies and make capture easier. Miles' skills and equipment can be upgraded as the player levels up using the skill tree system. Another feature the game offers is Miles' Spider-Man app, which gives him hints about crimes in New York and the location of those crimes. This informs the player of possible side quests they can complete, which is useful for leveling.
