What will it take for The Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four to one day share the same screen? That depends on who you ask. With the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 last week in a ton of territories outside the States, speculation began that we could one day see SpiderMan joining forces with the XMen. As many of you know, despite all being Marvel characters, their film rights are in the hands of rival studios. So the likelihood of seeing any of these characters crossing over into each other's films seems highly unlikely, at best. This sad truth was reiterated when IGN spoke with Spider-Man producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach who said that they still have so many more stories to tell inside the Spider-Man Universe, particularly with the introduction of The Sinister Six and Venom, that allowing Spider-Man to make a cameo in something like The Avengers would feel like a stunt. As far as Arad was concerned, the only way he sees Sony allowing Spider-Man to crossover into any other studio's Marvel films is if they ran out of ideas and that's something he doesn't see happening anytime soon. But not everyone is against the idea of all of the Marvel characters joining forces one day, regardless of who owns the rights. We know that Spider-Man himself, Andrew Garfield has expressed interest in one day joining the ranks of The Avengers as has Hugh Jackman, who'd like to see Wolverine fight alongside the likes of Hulk and Iron Man. Now, you can add X-Men and The Fantastic Four writer/producer Simon Kinberg to that list. Kinberg told ComingSoon quote, "The dream is, obviously, one day to do a Marvel movie that is with all the Marvel characters or at least a universe where they can dive in and out of one another's films. Because that's the way the comics were created, I think that's the way the movies should actually be." He went on to explain that setting up a shared universe, even between different studios, would ultimately help all the movies do better. Though there are currently no plans for that to happen, he did think an X-Men/Spider-Man crossover could be a logical first step, but he also suggested that starting to build a shared universe might work best on television first. If you want to know how all this talk of an X-Men/Spider-Man crossover first started, go ahead and click right here: With the Spider-Man and X-Men producers having very different ideas regarding potential crossover of their characters, do you think we'll ever see a Marvel Cinematic Universe that includes all its heroes and if so, do you think it should begin on the big or small screen? We know you have some strong opinions about this, so head down to the comments to share your thoughts and be sure to hit that subscribe button to while you're there. Keeping you in the movie know every day, I'm Erin Robinson thanks for watching!
