Splatoon 2 - Splatfest: Team Time Travel & Results (more Heavy Splatling Remix)
All right, here's the other one! There were numerous things from pop culture to pick from. I went with Avengers: Endgame for the previous one. I could've gone with Doctor Who, or Back to the Future, or H.G. Wells's Time Machine, or Sonic CD (again), or a lot of other things. Anyone who's done a lot of fiction has likely done a time travel story, but I went with Doraemon because it looks quite different than anything else. You're not a real anime fan if you don't recognize Doraemon.
This was, honestly, a weird Splatfest topic, considering time travel and teleportation don't really have much in common besides that teleportation is a necessary secondary ability to time travel. After all, if you travel, say, one month into the past or into the future, you're going to otherwise wind up one-twelfth of Earth's orbit away from Earth, not taking into account the orbital movements of the Solar System to the Milky Way, the Milky Way to the Virgo Supercluster, the Virgo Supercluster to The Great Attractor, etc.
Assuming responsible use of both powers, though, there is no contest, especially if it involves traveling to the past. Time manipulation has always been considered a game-breaker power, typically reserved for villains, and if heroes have it and can use it competently, odds are villains have it too. There is not much that can beat undoing any mistake you've made.
Match #5
Kelp Dome
Splatfest Turf War
Heavy Splatling Remix
Color Scheme: Mixed Icee
Song: "Ebb & Flow" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Variety Society (Good Guys)
The opponents were a very aggressive bunch, always getting up in all of our faces regardless of where we were. I wound up spending the entire match defending our spawn point, which might not sound that useful except that it 1) prevents opponents from spawn-camping, which can happen in Kelp Dome, and 2) splatting opponents sends them back the maximum distance, and they have to get through all of my teammates first.
Match #6
Shifty Station
Splatfest Turf War
Heavy Splatling Remix
Color Scheme: Mixed Icee
Song: "Ebb & Flow" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Variety Crew (Good Guys)
Rolonium is the gimmick of this Shifty Station. It's a neutral weapon found in Octo Canyon and Octo Expansion stages in the form of a bundle of tubes which, when attacked enough, barrel on forward, inflicting damage to enemies and spreading your ink color in its wake. Just like the dome one, I like the concept, but I don't like how players behave with it. Many people see it as a turret and camp there, waiting for opponents to come by. The problem is that Rolonium is not a one-hit splat, and it's easy to spot and predictable. There is a Rolonium bundle, in particular, that people like to camp out on, and I exploited that to its fullest by using my weapon's long range to attack them from my own side, standing in a spot the Rolonium can't reach. Sometimes, I attacked their Rolonium and turned it against them. That's how bad this player behavior gets.
Match #7
Ancho-V Games
Splatfest Turf War
Heavy Splatling Remix
Color Scheme: Mixed Icee
Song: "Acid Hues" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Forged Warriors (Bad Guys)
The opposing team attempted to invade our side, presumably to try to spawn-camp. It seems I stopped the three of them dead in their tracks myself. Unfortunately for us, there's more than one direction they could invade us from, and soon, I ran out of viable cover while they had lots of places to hide. Then P h r o g got disconnected, the only one sticking around to help me when opponents come for me, and it REALLY went downhill.
Match #8
Musselforge Fitness
Splatfest Turf War
Heavy Splatling Remix
Color Scheme: Mixed Icee
Song: "Muck Warfare" by Off the Hook
Titles: The Variety Syndicate
Something felt off about this one, namely that I was always finding opponents to fight, and I did pretty well against them, but my teammates were rarely in sight. In particular was Kacchan, who just disappeared somewhere. I'm guessing this person is named after Katsuki Bakugo, the rival character in My Hero Academia, but Bakugo's nature is aggressive and itching for fights, whereas this one seemed to prefer to avoid all confrontation, which is bad because I faced Falk0r as an opponent in other matches, and I knew this person is hyperaggressive and constantly seeking out our spawn. I tried my best, but my best wasn't enough, it seems.
And here are the results! I found it weird more people voted for Teleportation, as teleportaton has never been depicted as anything overpowered. But is that why people went for Team Teleportation? Or did they want blue ink? We got mocha!
Time Travel 41.34% - Votes - 58.66% Teleportation
Time Travel 49.42% - Normal - 50.58% Teleportation
Time Travel 49.47% - Pro - 50.53% Teleportation
