Splatoon 3: First-half help in Rainmaker [7(1)-2, Sploosh-o-matic]
Make it rain! Not with Curling Bombs I won't, but I do enjoy tossing them around and seeing what happens. I mean, cooking them expertly and causing the yellow team to dodge or be splatted. The battle around the Rainmaker, meanwhile, is all a bit of posturing, one side daring the other to pick it up. A yellow inkling dares to, and is quickly stopped, causing two immediate splats on their team, and two more as I pick off the others as they try to retreat. That gives us an opportunity to counter-attack!
A squidmate grabs the Rainmaker and takes the risky shorter route, a canny move with the other team down a few squids. We make it across, and I pull out a big Hammer to deter any inklings from coming too close. I think it works. We hit the first checkpoint, burst the Rainmaker free, and surge forwards again. I push rather aggressively, to the point where I have to turn around to get a splat, which helps, but there is a concentration of yellow inklings at this point that manages to stop us.
A purple presence remains near the Rainmaker, but I don't trust it to stay there much longer, and take the slow route back. The yellow team are tentative bringing the Rainmaker back, which is fair, and I am tentative moving up to try to splat them on their terms, which I also think is fair. Instead, I ink and probe with Curling Bombs, and try to work out if there is an inkable wall to the side, which there isn't, and if shooting the Bubble's shield itself damages it, which it doesn't. Good information, thanks!
My squidmates, meanwhile, have been rather more pro-active. They've recovered the Rainmaker and pushed forwards, and I rush along the shortcut to catch up with them. They have broken through the yellow defences and are heading towards the podium. I bet they could use a Hammer to help them get there! If only I didn't get splatted by a Splat Bomb behind me. Never mind, my squidmates make it anyway, dunking the Rainmaker for the knockout victory. Woomy!
