Splatoon 3: Early errors in judgment in Salmon Run [36-40-40, 39/541]
Diving in to trouble, towards a Flyfish, surrounded by Chum, was not a good idea, and I knew it. I should learn to listen to my conscience sometimes. At least I'm revived without too much fuss, or two many salmonids around me, and I finish splatting the Flyfish and deliver two eggs. I immediately go for the Stinger that is threatening me, and pointlessly collect all three of its eggs out in the middle of nowhere. This is not what you should do! I finally get back to the basket, help with a Maws, see a squidmate is splatting another stinger, don't have ink for another Maws but can revive a squidmate, and hop across to the Fish Finger. Lots is happening, which is why my earlier actions were ill-considered. I try to learn, leaving an egg behind on the Fish Finger to help with other bosses, which works to all our benefit.
We start the second wave with a Maws and Lid, which works out well, and more Maws come, catching on squidmate but not really posing problems. A Cohock gets in the way of a Drizzler, so I splat them too, and I try to turn a Scrapper around for our Splat Charger, only for Chum to have something to say about that. A Lid provides some eggs when I'm revived, and a Steel Eel is easily diverted to find its driver, after which a Fish Finger calls. I leave an egg behind, so I don't get splatted by a Flyfish, and deal with another Fish Finger at a more equal height. I dive across to get its eggs, returning to try to splat some late bosses for last-second eggs, boosting our tally nicely.
I don't see anything at the start of the third wave, which generally heralds a Maws. And here she comes, nicely lured back to the basket. A Steelhead takes its lumbering time to come our way, and thankfully a Lid appears to give us something to do. A Flipper is easily splatted, and the Steelhead finally inksplodes, and now we have eggs to deliver. I head back the basket to help with another Flipper, and choose a Fish Finger over a Stinger. The Stinger tries to tell me that was wrong, and they're probably right, but at least I manage to revive a squidmate as I dive off the Finger. I try an experiment to see if a Lid will splat a Maws, but the silly thing hits the boat, so I have to use the lift to splat the pair of them sequentially. A squidmate has helpfully splatted a Big Shot and is sending eggs cannoning our way, which I'm happy to deliver, but more bosses are coming our way. We deal with them well, not getting overrun, and end the wave, and the Run, with another decent total. Woomy!
