Splatoon 3: Moving out from the edges in Splat Zones [16(5)-5, Range Blaster]
A bit of a weak start for me, not really knowing how to start in the Gorge. Not by shooting the uninkable block, I imagine. I spot the Ballpoint Splatling, catch them with a blast, but have no idea they are getting closer to me, so the second shot is pretty good. It's just a shame the Carbon Roller is nearby when I do. Kinda nearby, not really feeling nearby enough, but still. The orange team, having wiped us out, take control of the central column, making approaching the Splat Zones hazardous. My squidmates are bolder than me, it seems, and launch themselves as I throw Suction Bombs, draining my ink tank. That makes it harder to make shots when I need to, and I am always a second behind for a while. I recover enough to splat the Carbon Roller, at least.
I stick with my ranged approach, happy to send Suction Bombs and a Wave Breaker ahead, and jump forwards when it looks like progress is being made. That's when the Carbon Roller finds me again. I head back down the side route, and push on the Ballpoint Splatling on the ledge, splatting them sweetly. Around the other way, the Splat Zones need to be inked, but they are green enough to score, and we take back the lead without much fuss. Now it's time to take over the column.
A Trizooka fires, thankfully missing me, but I miss the Carbon Roller, back in its natural form, for a few too many shots. I catch them finally, relinquishing the column in doing so, and getting back up there has my chasing an Inkjet, dropping me down again, in front of the Dualie Squelchers. I'm back to ranged attacks on the orange column, soon chased away by a Trizooka. But I get some height, and a Suction Bomb splat, and with courageous squidmates we are back in the Splat Zones.
We cover the angles, protect the Splat Zones, and get back on the column. My squidmates go further, but to their detriment, and the orange team press the turf once more. Being hit by a Wave Breaker marks me, and with nowhere to hide the Dualie Squelchers hunt me down. I'm back to peppering the Splat Zones, but this time being pushed back by repeated Splat Bombs. They are a bit too effective, splatting my squidmates, which causes us not to break through the orange ink.
Our lead is looking threatened, not helped by an interloper disallowing access. I splat them nicely, and launch myself forwards, not worrying about consequences for the moment. I seem to do okay, but that's without orange inklings shooting me, probably thanks to my squidmates. I hear an Inkjet, though, and bring that one down, giving me the confidence to press forwards a little more. That catches the Carbon Roller on their ledge, and I leave a present of a Wave Breaker on the other one, and as time ticks down, victory is assured. Woomy!
