Splatoon 3 - Splatfest #3 (Global): Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour - Tricolor Battles & Salmon Run
12The first Splatfest of Chill Season 2022 is upon us! This time it's a battle of the taste buds, with the taste sensations of Spicy, Sweet, and Sour going at it! I do enjoy all three (though I can only handle a light spice, not like a ghost pepper or anything like that, and most of the sour stuff I eat also has an element of sweet to it, like sweet and sour pork or sweet and sour sauce for my chicken nuggets, etc.), but my friends and I ended up deciding on Team Sweet.
Team Sweet already won the Conch Shell count in the Sneak Peek, and it looks like they'll win Popularity as well, so now it all comes down to Clout. According to the Halftime Report, it looks like Team Sweet has a sizable lead there too. But now the Tricolor Battles have opened up, so let's join up with my best friend @GamesPerJustin and let's take it to 'em!
As described in the Version 2.0.0 patch notes, some major changes were made to Tricolor Battles starting with this Splatfest.
Before: The leading team at halftime couldn't even select Tricolor Battles. They had to choose Open battles and randomly get placed into a Tricolor battle. Even for the losing teams who could choose Tricolor battles, it wasn't a guarantee you would even get one. Also, the losing teams were always on the Attacking side and the winning team was always on the Defending side. Clout from Tricolor battles was also lumped in with Open clout.
After: Any team can select Tricolor battles, any team can attack or defend chosen at random, and you would always get a Tricolor battle if you selected it, though you can get a full lobby of your own team if it's too popular (which Team Sweet seems to be in this case). Clout from Tricolor battles is also tracked separately from Open and Pro, which may mean another category for the final results.
