Splatoon 3's World Premiere Demo: Starting Things Up!
As of this post, Splatoon 3 is going to be released in less than two weeks!
In the meantime, just like with Splatoon 2, Splatoon 3 previewed itself with a World Premiere demo that is meant to show off its first Splatfest!
----------
First, per the norm, you gotta prepare your character. Usually, you get to customize an Inkling, but this time, you can now choose to be an Octoling from the very start.
You can change their hair style, their skin tone, their eye color, their pants, and even their eyebrows. For hairstyles in particular, you can not select one for your Inkling/Octoling regardless of the gender you intended them to have. Their gender voices are now set according to what "Style" you choose for them as the very first choice of your customization.
Last, but not least, your character will have a cute tiny Salmonid with them; probably a new pet, and you can kinda customize it, too.
You first go through a tutorial course to learn, or re-learn this series' controls. There are even some new actions you can use this time, such as the Squid Surge!
----------
Eventually, your player will make it to a train out of that Chaotic desert. It will take you all the way to this game's brand new humongous city: Splatsville!
Like with previous cities, Splatville has its own idols that do the news reports. This time, however, Splatsville has not just two of them... but THREE OF THEM! They are known together as Deep Cut!
Shiver is a blue Octoling. She seems to be themed around sharks and traditional Japanese entertainment.
Frye is a yellow Inkling. She seems to be themed around eels and South Asian imagery, particularly of India.
And then there's the third one: Big Man. He's a big manta ray that likes to wear a bit of red. He's your very first MALE idol!
Their first report is about this game's first Splatfest: Rock-Paper-Scissors!
YUP! With three idols, you now have to choose between one of three different sides to fight for in a Splatfest! How's that for Chaos?!
If you have the time, pick a side and brace for some real action in this demo later!
----------
Beyond that... there's not much to do in Splatsville but to walk around, look at other players' messages, and see what can and can't be accessed.
For example, there will be shops owned by new and old faces to check out, but you can't use them yet until you've level up, but you can't do that until you've played some matches, but you also can't do that either until the Splatfest starts. Even then, you canโt even level in this demo!
Try to customize your gear sets. I'm gonna stay a bit basic with mine, for now.
You can even stare at the idols until they notice in wave at you. That will ALWAYS be welcomed!
----------
I just wanted to see what I'm in for with this game, because I'm definitely going to play a lot of matches in it just like I did with the first two!
So thanks for watching, and see you at the Splatfest!
