Sonic Adventure 2 (PC Modded): Dark Story Part 5: Radical Highway & Flame Ring
Eggman had successfully reached his new Hidden Base inside one of the desert pyramid. He wanted to figure out how to get those Chaos Emeralds to Shadow.
He then turns on the news and sees that Shadow has robbed on of the Chaos Emeralds from a bank, but what's more concerning is that the news reported that this was actually Sonic's doing. Eggman could clearly see that wasn't the case, however...
As Shadow was escaping the chase from the police, he had a sudden flashback...
On Space Colony ARK, he was running away with a girl named Maria. It looked like he cared for her very much compared to everyone else.
But then, Maria had to seal Shadow in a capsule and send him towards the Earth, on some kind of promise... And she felt ill...
Shadow saw her last words as a call to take revenge on humanity for letting Maria die.
(Ugh... looks like the audio was out of sync pretty badly recording this cutscene, among other things.)

So this is Shadow's first real level. Treasure it, because he actually has the least amount of regular levels out of all 6 characters. He was originally wasn't going to be playable in this game.
At 2:37, roll under that iron barrel, and you can see a gap that leads to Shadow's own Flame Ring. Normally, you would need to use the Light Dash through a trail of Rings to reach it, but I just skip that in Spindash and jump towards the other side the reach the Flame Ring.
Like for Sonic, the Flame Ring lets Shadow use the Fire Somersault to break steel containers.
Shadow won't collect ALL of Sonic's items for himself, but every item he does have in this game will be something Sonic could also get.
----------
And speaking of Sonic, Shadow eventually got to meet the blue hedgehog that he unintentionally framed. When Sonic tried to fight him, he used the power of Chaos Control from his Green Chaos Emerald to make for a quick getaway.
This put Sonic in really hot water, because he was soon surrounded by more cops... all for a crime he didn't actually commit.
