Splatoon -- Octo Valley: 13. Shifting Splatforms ~ Midnight Rendezvous ~
To continue the train of thought about super jumping from one kettle to the next in deference to your intrepid new area exploration before you "needed" to find it, such a boon is only afforded you if you actually found it already... there's always going to be a "last" kettle, after all, so you'll logically still have some legwork to do anyway. (Unless the FIRST one in the "world" is actually the last one you discovered, in which case good job!)

13. Shifting Splatforms
~ Midnight Rendezvous ~
R-rendezvous? Just what are you suggesting?! Wait... who writes these titles anyway? I'm onto you Treehouse!
This stage actually engenders a very ...simplistic and easily-grasped concept, one that barely needs explanation, but also one of the most advanced and complex propositions the game has to offer, found exclusively within Octo Valley, in fact. That is... the fluid glory of squid-and-ink platforming! I'm sure you could tell already, but the complexities inherent to the simple concepts of swimming in ink you've laid out on floors and walls can get to be far more complicated than what we've seen... allowing for some really engaging and immersive jumping and shooting and climbing in rather rapid succession. So what happens if we add in something a little extra to spice things up a bit?
In particular, I'm referring to making those platforms MOVE in varying patterns and combinations, not to mention throwing all the usual basic distractions in the way, and we've got ourselves a ball game! ...and, of course, this is still a very intermediate-ish stage, so... just file that away in the back of your mind for later.
Watching this stage's progression in particular, I'm struck by a bunch of loot I can see off in the distance now and again that I missed out on grabbling for one reason or another. Some of it, I clearly saw as I was playing... some of it, I didn't. Thankfully, the Sunken Scroll isn't particularly well-hidden, and you can even see it from the main path if you just look down a suspiciously unimportant-looking walkway!
Interestingly, collection of Power Eggs and Secret Scrolls snaps back to its earlier state if you reload from a checkpoint before you grabbed them. Neat! (I should violently burst squid kids into puffs of vaporized ink more often!)
Otherwise, there's really not a lot to be said that isn't self-evident from either the setup... or at the very least, once it's executed. And, of course, there's more than one way to handle this stuff, so it's a very freeform and organic

On a somewhat unrelated note, I think this is about the time where I finally started putting it all into perspective where the different bomb types lie on the general usefulness scale... although that's more of their general EASE-of-use.
As a result, and in incredibly generalized terms, the Splat Bomb is your general wide-range damage-dealer... but it's fairly useless outside where you can easily toss one and roll it comfortably to a stop. Though it IS great at scaring Octarians to get yourself in a better position to wipe 'em out. The Seeker, as we've seen, is... super useful in terms of essentially taking any guesswork out of things... as long as it has a flat (or sloped) path straight to the target unimpeded... but it really won't do much if it can't hit the target head on along the way, which isn't always the best approach. And that leaves the humble and unassuming Burst Bomb to... basically not be very good offensively, especially compared to the other two... but it IS very handy for covering a wide bit of turf that would've been hard to reach otherwise quite as easily, particularly where walls are concerned..
Granted, these are gross oversimplifications and they'll come with some rather glaring holes, but that's how they've essentially impressed themselves upon my naive and limited-experience self, but that's basically what Octo Valley is meant to do: let you play with stuff and formulate your own approach to moving, shooting, and throwing!
Incidentally, it wouldn't be for quite some time before I actually started to appreciate the Burst Bomb more, but it's still on a decidedly uphill battle compared to its much more powerful cousins...
