if you'd think that what i hate about CT is too much, this will change your mind. the black sheep of splinter cell, well, not really, it is, before conviction.

the game start very strong, with heavily RNG level. you either be seen by a guy on the rail way and lose 15% for no reason, or got lucky like this run. you have to wait at the bottom of the ladder before going up. just save before hacking.

and the guard with flashlight at 6:15 if this fucker have any slight discomfort he will crying for his mom and sound the alarm instantly, out of no where. there're times that i standing still doing nothing and got alarm for no reason at all even i am in green. fuck this guy.

and where to begin with this game's problems? first, the speed. in SC1-3 you have 5 levels of speed to work with, but in DA V.1 you have only 4. not a big deal, right? wrong. now, you are either too slow or too fast and it just so awful to sneaking around.

the movement has been butchered. see, in CT with you can freely moving around without the fear of making slight noise when you do the 90 degree turn or walking backwards. even in SC1-2 you will never have any problem with turning around or do a left or right turn. but in this game's movement, if you try to walk back, or do a sudden 90 degree turn, your character will make a small noise that will alert anyone within 2-3 meters around you, regardless of what type of floor you're walking on or speed you're using, for no reason. at all. and it mess me up so many times. to work around this, is to just aim your weapon on where you wanted to go, or use your camera to turn around while holding forward.

for some reason if you're too close to anyone in JBA members like, within elbow range. somehow they will heard your foot step, even at the lowest speed. they feels that you're there.

and the vents. instead of press a button to start climbing or crawling like CT, you have to walk in to it now. there're so many times that the game made me look like a dumbass, for trying to get myself into a vent by just head butting the wall for 5 seconds. and i hate this manhunt 2's camera style so much.

then the binary, but not really, light shadow system. they decided to remove the light meter out from your HUD. the thing is, the mechanic itself is the same as before, but you have to do a guess work whether the enemy will see you instantly or not. luckily you can recover the light meter, with widescreen fix's blacklist indicators in scripts folder. just imagine that the game has the light orb mechanic like in thief 4, but reliable. no light on your gear means you're fully visible, yellow means you're in the middle and green you're invisible. it helps, but not by much, but at least you can get the feeling for it.

the ultrasonic sound emitter is a mess. there're time that i using this thing but it just does not work, they dont hear anything and standing still. even i click on their head. reset the game does not fix it too. i have to reset the game AND the level to make it work again. it sucks, imagine you're at the end of level and you have to lure guard away but this fucking thing doesn't work, and you have to KO them or use your own body to distract, risk of getting spotted. and this leads to the next point.

the scoring system is fucking busted. KO someone that is not mandatory target? -5%. shoot a gun? -1%. per. shot. except the secondary fire. shoot the light? -2%. being seen even in the open combat area like bathhouse in CT? -15%. force hack? -5%(sometimes). break locks? -10%, because fuck you. so basically you have to be flawless and play the stupid minigame even you dont want to, in order to get a 100%. and the worst part? the game is full of bugs in the last 2 main missions. it is as bad as bathhouse in CT. i will say more about it when i get there.

if you want to play double agent, just play version 2, if you insist on playing v.1, play on Xbox and only Xbox. use emulator of choice. the version 2's movement and gameplay are better because the game is literally CT 2.0. you have the light meter and the sound meter AND the subtitles, lower the crashes and bug. and all levels are in night time. the problem of that game is going to be juggle the stupid trust meter with a fucking labtop. that's the second reason why i hate about version 2. the first reason is, it's not canon. because ubisoft want this so called "next gen" game to be the canon one, rather than a better story one.

i will do the canon choices (frame enrica, save hisham and kill lambert). if anything i like about version 1, it is going to be the sam's uniform. every mission except JBA sam use different uniform. and the JBA base is better in version 1. the dynamic music that is tense up the closer you are to guards. no more telekinesis hacking. hacking mini-game is better than CT and the return of aiming while in cover from SC1-2.
