SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is a platform video game based on the Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. It is a remake of the console versions of Heavy Iron Studios' SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, in development by Purple Lamp Studios and to be published by THQ Nordic for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.Rehydrated will include additional features such as a brand new multiplayer horde mode for up to two players, offering either PvP or co-op, which is playable online and offline.
Rehydrated will also include a remastered soundtrack. Content previously cut from the original game such as an antagonistic robotic counterpart of Squidward Tentacles, an earlier concept for Patrick Star's dream level, and a cut phase of the SpongeBot SteelPants boss battle is being re-added, along with other content not yet disclosed. It is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and will support 4K resolution on the enhanced PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X models.[3][4]
