This is such a strange game and a spin on Kwirk and Amazing Tater, all by Atlus. While Kwirk and Amazing Tater are mind-bending puzzle games often compared to Sokoban, Atlus got ambitious with this game and turned it into an odd adventure game with RPG elements and puzzle-solving.
The game starts with a king in a faraway kingdom who is talking about marriage with his beautiful daughter, Princess Mato. Before they can hold a meaningful conversation, Mato gets kidnapped by a creature named Devi. The king, who doesn't know what to do, cries for help and sends his loyal knights to find her. Time passes and no one returns, and a brave cap-wearing chap named Spud the Wanderer decides to help look for her. He somehow learns that she's in a tower and... just gets there by flying? Your adventure begins and you have to go through this complex tower labyrinth.
If you haven't guessed it yet, just about everyone is a fruit or vegetable of some kind. You go around defeating enemies, leveling up, gaining powers, finding keys and gaining party-members with different abilities who you can switch on the fly. The game couldn't help throw in some Sokoban elements too, as some rooms require you to move objects into precise places in order to progress further. The staircases are somewhat randomized as far as where they take you, so making maps of the floors won't exactly help. This video skips a little bit of the maze towards the end to show the first boss. Enjoy.
