I knew it would fail considering SRTs are basically just time and text, but I thought I'd try it out anyway to see what it would look like. The way the original .ASS file is that it places a bunch of short syllable lines, a proportion of the screen away from the centreline and gives them a little fade animations. However every animation takes up a whole line.
As it turns out though, youtube's platform doesn't accept multiple subtitles at the same time and so it rejects the previous lines, rendering only one syllable as they all spawn in, and then disappearing. I could see karaoke possibly working on the youtube platform though with the videotron lambda subtitle where I could posibly mix and match the furigana and kanji slots with whitespaces where applicable, assuming they can work that way and that youtube has full implementation (based on information from this link: https://medium.com/netflix-techblog/implementing-japanese-subtitles-on-netflix-c165fbe61989)

Even better though, if they added support for advance subtitle files.
