In the wake of a bitterly fought election, people in the United States are feeling disconnected from government. In this video, Fullstack student Adam Intrator argues that the offices of local and state representatives are set up to receive, calls, letters and visits from individual constituents, and that one of the best ways to affect change is therefore to start at the local and state level. His Stackathon project, 'Start Local', aims to make civic engagement easier by giving users access to all of their representatives' contact information as well as to information on any active legislation related to issues they care about – all this in two easy steps.
