I've been reviewing Russian propaganda for quite a while on this channel, and Russia has always looked to the USSR for inspiration. However, This has reached new levels now. During the recent 80th year anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad, Russia has gone full Soviet - changing the name of Volgograd to Stalingrad, installing a new Stalin statue and more, all in the midst of Putin visiting the city. Moreover, Russian society has recently also been showing traits of the USSR of Stalin days - with people reporting on each other for "wrongthinking". Why is this happening? Why is Russian propaganda so obsessed with Stalin and the USSR? Let's talk about it.
