In this quick comparison video I discuss some of the differences between the new Stalker Enhanced Editions (in this case Shadow of Chernobyl on PC) and the Stalker Anomaly Gamma mod pack, and why this might be the reason for so many negative reviews on Steam about these Enhanced versions of the OG Stalker games.

I think the problem could be that if you've played any of the more recent stand-alone & mod packs for the OG Stalker games, they look significantly better, and have more quality of life upgrades, than has been put into the Enhanced Editions, and I could see why that would annoy people.

In my opinion though the simple changes that have come with the Enhanced Editions, such as gamepad support, are incredibly welcome, and as I already owned Stalker on Steam, I get this version for free anyways!
