I have actually never played KOTOR 2 before, even though I did buy a copy of the game way back in 2005-2006. The supposedly rushed and unfinished state of the retail release had something to do with my initial neglect of this otherwise fairly well-received RPG sequel, and waiting for the so-called "Restoration Project" (i..e. the original Team Gizka effort which was subsequently cancelled) then became my primary excuse for not playing KOTOR 2 for years.
Now that the game has been belatedly re-released on Steam and a Restored Content mod (called TSLRCM 1.8) is available for download I figured this was the perfect time to check out KOTOR 2. Sadly, even with latest mods, widescreen fixes and other tweaks installed I get infuriating crashes to the desktop every 5-10 minutes or so on my computer, making the game almost - but not quite - unplayable until/unless I find a solution.
Despite these glaring technical issues, I've at least managed to play through the game's starting areas (Pegasus/Ebon Hawk) which contained a very long and narratively convoluted quest and made me wish I had taken some notes in order to fully understand the complicated sequence of events which provides the foundation for the rest of the game's plot. Despite a somewhat clumsy setup I'm reasonably interested in where the story will go from here, and provided that I can find some remedy for the constant crashing I definitely want to see the rest of what the game has to offer.
