Star Wars Rebel Assault on real 486 DX2/66 DOS Retro PC. Best Speed for this Game! Full Playthrough
No save state cheating possible here ;) I just had to do one break before the final missions and continued the next day. Star Wars Rebel Assault was THE Game of its time and a main reason many of us bought CD ROM drives back in the day. The cinematic feel of this retro gem is incredible, and it was way ahead of its time! What is special about this game is that its running speed is directly affected by the PC it runs on. Meaning it will run very slow on a slow 486 and much to fast on a fast Pentium. As with many games of this Era the 486 DX2/66 provides the perfect speed as the games were made with THAT PC in mind...
The full specs of the PC it is played on are:
Intel 486DX2 66
16MB RAM
Spea Mirage Vesa Local Bus Video Card (over 100Hz in real DOS!)
A Roland RAP 10 and a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 Soundcard (Although this makes not much difference here since the game plays music from CD!)
Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick (3D Pro and Standard)
03:30 Mission 1 Start
12:30 Star Destroyer Attack
23:48 Ice Planet
58:00 Death Star Attack
