The writer, Steven Knight, hadn’t been able to turn in a script, and, according to insiders, there’s been a lot of drama before the movie has even started filming. Well, today, there’s even more shocking news: the movie might be indefinitely delayed, and the writer might leave the movie entirely.
I’ll get into the news in just a minute, but first, I have to say; this is a massive problem with Star Wars lately. I’m losing count on how many Star Wars projects have been announced before they were even written and have fizzled out. Lando comes to mind, something that got announced over 3 years ago and to this day we have no idea what’s going on, and it doesn’t look like the script has even started being written.
Now, it’s being reported that Steven Knight, the THIRD writer on this movie already, is at rist of parting ways with Lucasfilm due to intense creative differences which has caused an absolutely massive series of delays. Creative differences is a term we keep hearing over and over from these movies and shows, it’s getting sickening at this point.
According to a reliable reporter, Disney have internally delayed the film indefinitely which is what prompted them to make that out of the blue announcement about the mando movie, something nobody saw coming since leaks were indicating that it was an idea scrapped in favour of a future season. Apparently, Steven Knight finally submitted a first draft, but it was so flawed that Disney sent enough notes on what to change that it would take an entire from-scratch rewrite in order to get the ball rolling.
