Stardew Valley creator doesn’t know if he will continue to update the game
Stardew Valley’s creator doesn’t know if there will be another update to the game.
Eric Barone, also known as Concerned Ape, has said he is currently focused on a new game.
Stardew Valley’s 1.5 update was released last year, which marked the biggest update for the game to date.
During a twitch stream for the Stardew Valley Cup, the first official event which pitted farmers against each other for a $40,000 prize pool, creator Eric Barone was asked about updates that will expand the potential marriage pool within the game.
He revealed that he had no specific intentions to prevent players from marrying any one character, but that the inability to marry certain NPCs is borne out of the difficulty of adding in that feature from a development standpoint.
"I'm not saying there's going to be another Stardew Valley update. I don't even know at this point. Right now I am focused on my next game. So, we'll see."
Eric Barone has worked on Stardew Valley for a decade, completely independently, so he has definitely earned a break.
He gave little information about his new game, explaining that it is similar to Stardew Valley in the art style and that it is top down, but confirmed that it is not a farming game.
