Okay, so I messed up and lost the footage to the previous episode. What happened was I planted a lot of crops, harvested the beans and then kept looking for a leek. (unsuccessfully)
Then I went mining again, and got enough ore for a sprinkler. (Which auto waters plants.) After that I harvested some berries form the bushes around the town then used them as I mined further down again, reaching level 40 in the mines. I then made a second sprinkler which I placed between the bean stalks.
