Start a YouTube channel, do it in 2018. Starting a youtube channel is the best thing I have ever done. I've put together my top 5 greatest reasons to do it this year. Some might be a bit unexpected. This isn't a tutorial video on how to start a channel, or how to get started filming. It's advice on how you can benefit from doing it in 2018.
If you're one of the beginners out there looking to become successful on YouTube and earn money, sure... But there's so much more you can get out of getting started. Here are some examples
Speaking is necessary in life. From getting a good job, to getting a girlfriend or boyfriend, speaking is what gets you there. This is a skill, many people you see speaking well were not born that way. It took a lot of practice (and a bit of embarrassment) to get there. Youtube gives you a place to practice. This first point is perhaps the best advice of this list
You motivate yourself. Just like listening to podcast, watching interviews, or reading books, learning from awesome people makes you awesome. The thing is, if you are making videos about what you love, you are an awesome person too. By focusing your time on making one video a week, you motivate yourself to put energy into what you love. You build momentum around what you love.
Every video is an opportunity. Every video is a fish hook in the ocean. You never know who will be swimming by and take a bite. The more hooks you have, the more opportunities you give people to find you. This is the secret on how to make a full time job out of what you love.
You learn Mad Skills. Social media marketing, SEO, video production, photo editing.. these are all skills that are very employable. These days you don't have to go to school to make a living doing what you love. You just have to be good.
Judgement is part of life. We compare ourselves to others, other compare themselves to us. People love, and people hate. This is Youtube, and this is life. Being comfortable with this idea makes you bulletproof. You can't have lovers without having haters. The worst you can have is people who feel "meh".
