StarTropics NES Review takes a look at one of my favorite lost franchises on the Nintendo.

StarTropics is an odd NES game in that it was never released in Japan. It was created in North America for a western audience. It's interesting that - for once - Japan is missing out on an incredible game.

An epic action adventure, StarTropics sends players across a tropical island chain to locate his uncle, Dr. Jones. He'll make some animal friends along the way and that's cute and all. But the really unique thing about this game is the tile-based movement. It seems awkward at first, but you get used to it fast and it opens the game up to a whole range of puzzles that you won't find in any other game in your NES collection.

And who can forget the letter this game included? Players were urged to dip it in water and when they did, a secret code would appear. I've never dipped mine. I'm kind of weird about my stuff. Especially my Nintendo games.

I hope everyone enjoys this retro review. Star Tropics is an awesome game that belongs in every NES collection. It should only cost around ten dollars, so you really have no excuse not to pick up a copy!
