Steam Controller Revealed! According to Valve, "It is designed to work with all the games on Steam: past, present, and future. Even the older titles in your catalog and the one which were not built with controller support."
How can it does this you ask? By presenting itself as a mouse and keyboard via a configuration tool, where players will be able to choose from a list of the most popular configurations.
Valve touts the Steam Controller offers a superior control scheme, "Built with high-precision input technologies and focused on low-latency performance."
It features dual trackpads instead of thumbsticks that are also clickable so the entire surface is like a giant button. They say it approaches resolution of a desktop mouse.
The controller also features haptic feedback, "employing dual linear resonant actuators" or in laymans terms super fancy scientific magnets. They allow a wide range of force and vibration allowing the player to control frequency, amplitude, and of course movement.
There will also be a touchscreen since those are all the rage these days, and like the DualShock 4 it will also be clickable. There will be regular buttons as well, making a total of 16, and like all things Steam, it will be open and hackable, and you can use it with any version of Steam, not just on a Steam Machine.
