Why use Batocera? Since Batocera is a standalone OS, you can use the same Batocera sdcard on a different desktop / laptop PC or on other handheld PCs too!

How to Install Batocera on a Steam Deck

1. Boot Steam Deck into desktop mode.

2. Open Firefox and go to batocera.org

3. Download the Batocera image for Steam Deck.

4. Once done, open konsole terminal -

4a. cd Downloads

4b. gunzip batocera-x86_64-37-20230617.img.gz

4c. sudo dd if=batocera-x86_64-37-20230617.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=128M oflag=sync status=progress

5. Turn off the Steam Deck.

6. If you use Clover, just power on the Steam Deck and Batocera will be automatically detected. Select Batocera to boot it up!

6a. If you dont use Clover, press voldown + power and select your sdcard to boot to Batocera.
