With only one area to clear before the mission will be completed, it won't be too long before we know if we're able to find survivors or not. Once we do know it, it's time to leave the system, but not before we've retrieved all our mining drones. After that it's off to another system to retrieve the one drone we had there, before entering a system with an Aznari ruin.
Since I hadn't explored that ruin yet, I decided to do that, instead of continuing the 2nd NPC mission. Especially since we still need to discover another Aznari hub for the main questline.
