T'au makes it's first steps on a new planet!

I'm learning how to play Stellaris (Starter Pack), and made a custom race based off the T'au Empire from Warhammer 40,000. No mods are being used. Expect bad, slow play, and lots of reading.

DLC: Stellaris 'Starter Pack'
Apocalypse, Horizon Signal, Leviathans Story Pack, Synthetic Dawn.

Custom Race: T'au Empire (No mods)
Science Directorate, Prosperous Unification.
Empire Traits: Oligarchic, Technocracy, Functional Architecture, Egalitarian, Fanatic Materialists.
Racial traits: Weak, Slow Breeders, Intelligent, Natural Engineers, Adaptive.

The idea behind the custom race was to make them a technologically focused alien race with a leadership of science focused Ethereals. They are frail and weak when in ground-combat (although obviously only true for melee combat in WH40K, but I felt that this still fits with the theme of the T'au, technologically advanced, but weak bodied.) These people are highly intelligent and I left it up in the air whether or not they'll enslave people. I didn't want them to go all the way into the rout of enslaving entire species, but they are known for indoctrinating members of other races (especially humans) into their ranks. They offer every member of their own race, and POW's the "choice" of joining them, or going their own path. But everyone within the T'au Empire chooses to work for it, for some higher purpose known as "The Greater Good". Whether this truly is a race of people freely willing to fight for this ideology, or they're puppets of some minor hivemind-like mentality, still remains to this day, unknown.

Obviously, I can't make the race end up being exactly like the T'au Empire from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 table top / fictional codices, but I tried my best within reason to make the race work as a Tech-focused Oligarchic society. I'm honestly not entire sure if they are Egalitarian, as many believe it's more of a socialist group of people. But I needed to fill a slot and I figured they'd be trying to advance through trade, so I ultimately picked that.

As always, thanks for watching!
