Augh! It lives! This channel rises from the ashes to deliver more Smash fun, cuz believe it or not, Steve from Minecraft joins the battle!

I have little experience with Minecraft, but it's plain to see Steve brought over damn near every mechanic from the game, resulting in a very unique fighter that really changes the game! No really, they had to go back and reprogram every single stage for Steve's mining gimmick to work right! Steve mines the ground (or wall) for materials which fuel most of his other moves. You can craft stronger weapons with appropriate materials or use special moves like the TNT crate or Minecart, on top of laying down blocks to impede opponent's movements or improve your own. So yeah, Steve's pretty tricky so it'll take some time to use him well...

Match 1: Mushroom Kingdom (Battlefield Form)

Well here's a mirror match! The ditto meta for Steve's gonna be funny. Respect each other's mining at the start...but watch for stray minecarts! The fact that an empty minecart can scoop you up is really scary, definitely something to watch out for! I need to work on using TNT better. That repeated clash of swords was pretty funny too! Was that a unique clashing sound? I wouldn't know if that's from Minecraft or not...

Not sure what happened with the capture at the end there; kinda ruined Alex's win screen.

Match 2: Garden of Hope (Omega)

Well now we're on Fortsynn's rules...the little sneak. Flat stage perfect for minecart kills...and with only ONE stock? Gross. I almost cut this fight, but mostly kept it for that save near the start. Steve's recovery is a little hard to wrap my head around, so I was happy I could make it back and clutch it out.

Match 3: Battlefield

Well, I didn't exactly WANT a team match but sure, why not?! Clearly the game knows what I want more than I do right? Steve actually seems like a character that would do well in doubles, really. Having someone distract your opponents and cover you while you mine. Of course, I don't think Noodles really had my back here. In fact, my opponents kinda ignored him for the first half of the match and he held onto his first stock for a long time. I kept kinda confusing myself with the Creeper Brawler at points...and that's also on top of Zombie and Steve also looking similar from a glance. A messy round but Team Minecraft prevails!

Match 4: Minecraft World (Omega?)

Steve's stage is pretty neat, with different biomes that either pop up randomly or if you select the stage with a specific button sequence. I THINK this is the Omega Form? Either way, Minecraft World ends up being pretty straightforward when it comes to mining. Stand over dirt, you're more likely to get dirt; stand over iron, get iron, etc. Usually you gotta clear out the environment but not so in this form of the stage!

I think Steve works better in a free-for-all setting overall, as once you get down to a one-on-one he's a lot harder to use well. Still there's some sneaky moves you can pull off. His Down Air, that anvil, is not only strong, but it keeps you up off the air, making you safe from a lot of attacks opponents might throw out to punish you...which means for Steve players an Up Smash Magma Block is a great counter to that. Good stuff!

I got more Steve matches coming soon, though as you've probably noticed...I haven't uploaded much lately. Work's been stressful and eats up most of my free time anymore, and I just haven't had a lot of motivation to record more Wonderful 101 among other games...I'd like to get back to that soon but for right now...I can't quite guarantee anything past this other Smash video for now. It's 2020, I'm sure you understand.

Congrats Minecraft fans for getting Steve in. No longer memes, now a dreams...come true! (Ok that was bad)
