Description:
Laine Fisher is a mercenary from the Landen region of SangReal who was performing an ordinary caravan protection job. After defeating a group of bandits, she finds a mysterious stone orb that seems to amplify her negative emotions. Worse yet, she and her friend, Patrick, discover that demonic creatures known as the Nyx attacked a nearby village, using similar powers to the orb to drive their victims insane. It becomes clear that they need to get to the bottom of the Nyx and the stone in order to save their country from this madness-inducing threat, and prevent a repeat of the dreaded Altan Period.

Maut Valley also has heatstroke mechanics, which doesn't bode well because it contains a boss.
[ 5:56 ] Boss: Storm Wyrm
A boss with a ton of elemental resistances, except to light and dark. Sadly, Patrick will always have heatstroke, so he can't take advantage of his light spells. Also, unlike me, make sure you aren't using elemental weapons or shields that grant elemental attacks.
