Story Spotlight: The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe
3Continuing with my The End series, starting today, over the next few days, I'll be talking about the short lived Marvel Alternaverse books.
Garth Ennis has written some great books, especially when it comes to the Punisher. But if there's one thing Ennis has openly detested with a passion...it's Super Heroes (Well except Superman...yeah funny that huh?)
This book allows him to take out any frustrations on the supers. Basically, it's a simple what if. What If Frank Castles Family were killed during a Super Hero battle instead of a criminal fight. This causes Frank to determine to take out all heroes and super villains.
What transpires is a curb stomp like no other as Frank takes out every single super hero/villain in the Marvel Universe. So much happens off screen but the ones we do see...well let's just say that THIS was the book that made it obvious to people how much Ennis hates 99% of supers!
And...it is such a blast to read! It is one of those dumb fun books that you read just to see how it plays out! There's a reason this book is considered a 90's classic.
